Flood

8 September 2002

It rained a fair amount last night. The volume of rain wasn't a problem, but the intensity of it was. Scotland is used to a dignified drizzle, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. But instead, we got it all at once. The result was that that the sewer system overloaded, silted up and shutdown. Here's a photo I took this morning.

My house is somewhat difficult to flood, being at the top of these stairs.

The BBC have a story and some photos (carefully cropped to make the situation look worse than it is).
