Windows Parallel Ports

15 May 2003

[LPT] Microsoft, in its wisdom, has changed the API for accessing the parallel port. Again. After receiving complaints from Windows 2000 and XP owners, I've rewritten my parallel port monitors so that they function under these new versions of Windows. Furthermore, the Euphoria and Visual Basic monitors now both use the same DLL, which means that when Microsoft change the API again (in Longhorn?) it will be simpler to play catch-up.

[Lest ye think that I'm anti-Microsoft, I'll point out that MSIE renders the above parallel port monitoring page perfectly, whereas Mozilla makes it look like a bomb hit it. I hope that bug 78094 gets resolved during the big 1.5/1.6 rewrite.]
